Five Sentence Short Story

Hello all,

Here is an example of a five sentence short story. One of the many that I will be posting throughout the lifetime of this blog.

This one is a little more ambiguous than I usually write, but I believe that ambiguity can lead to a beautiful interpretation. So, due to this ambiguity, I want to hear from you! What do you think this story means? Tell me about what you think about it.

So without further adieu,

“I never want to hear from you again,” the man says, walking away.

Silence fills the air as realization of what happened begins to set in. Now what? Now a new life begins. There’s nothing stopping me, he thinks as he begins to pack his belongings and leave forever.

Short, sweet, and to the point (kind of). So, what did you think? What does it mean?

And on top of that, did you like it? Do you hate this type of story? Make sure to like, comment, and follow for more!

I care about your voice and want to hear from you!

Thank you again and I hope you all have an amazing weekend!

  1. It’s definitely short but there’s a lot to think about.
My interpretation is, it’s a guy who has been in a long relationship and something finally snapped that caused him to leave his girlfriend. Perhaps she was cheating on him and that was the last straw or maybe she’s been holding him back from what he really wants to do or be. It’s not the first time she has done something to make him feel like he’s not respected in the relationship. Now he’s decided to leave and has to figure out what he’s going to do now without her for the first time in his life.

I like this short story. It makes you think.

  2. I think it’s about a boss (Dave) who found out that his employee (Joe) was stealing money from the small business he started. Joe has already gambled all the money away so he can’t give it back. Dave has told Joe that because they are friends he won’t call the police but he never wants to see Joe again. Joe is off to start a new life with the weight of knowing he betrayed his closest friend.
